Keyboard Shortcut Actions

This mod lets you assign global keyboard shortcuts to various actions. Configure hotkeys like Ctrl+Alt+D to show the desktop, Ctrl+Alt+T to open Task Manager, and more.

Supported actions:

  1. Show desktop - Toggle show/hide desktop
  2. Ctrl+Alt+Tab - Opens Ctrl+Alt+Tab dialog
  3. Task Manager - Opens Windows default Task Manager
  4. Mute system volume - Toggle mute of system volume (all sound)
  5. Taskbar auto-hide - Toggle Windows taskbar auto-hide feature
  6. Win+Tab - Opens Win+Tab dialog
  7. Hide desktop icons - Toggle show/hide of all desktop icons
  8. Combine Taskbar buttons - Toggle combining of Taskbar buttons between two states
  9. Toggle Taskbar alignment - Toggle taskbar icon alignment between left and center (Windows 11 only)
  10. Open Start menu - Sends Win key press to open Start menu
  11. Virtual key press - Sends virtual keypress (keyboard shortcut) to the system
  12. Open application, path or URL - Starts arbitrary application executable, opens path in Explorer or URL in web browser
  13. Media Play/Pause - Toggle play/pause for media playback
  14. Media Next Track - Skip to next track
  15. Media Previous Track - Skip to previous track

Hotkey format

Hotkeys are specified in the format: Modifier+Modifier+Key

Modifiers: Alt, Ctrl, Shift, Win

Keys:

  • Letters: A-Z
  • Numbers: 0-9
  • Function keys: F1-F24
  • Navigation: Home, End, PageUp, PageDown, Insert, Delete, Left, Right, Up, Down
  • Common: Enter, Tab, Space, Backspace, Escape (or Esc), CapsLock, PrintScreen, Pause
  • Numpad: Numpad0-Numpad9 (or Num0-Num9), NumLock, Add, Subtract, Multiply, Divide, Decimal
  • Media: VolumeMute, VolumeUp, VolumeDown, MediaPlayPause, MediaNext, MediaPrev, MediaStop
  • Modifier keys (for Virtual key press): LWin, RWin, LShift, RShift, LCtrl, RCtrl, LAlt, RAlt
  • Some of the VK_* codes from Virtual-Key Codes

Examples:

  • Ctrl+Alt+D - Ctrl + Alt + D
  • Ctrl+Shift+F1 - Ctrl + Shift + F1
  • Alt+Home - Alt + Home
  • Win+Numpad1 - Windows key + Numpad 1

Additional arguments

Some actions support or require additional arguments. Arguments are separated by semicolons. For example: arg1;arg2.

  1. Show desktop - no additional arguments
  2. Ctrl+Alt+Tab - no additional arguments
  3. Task Manager - no additional arguments
  4. Mute system volume - no additional arguments
  5. Taskbar auto-hide - no additional arguments

  9. Toggle Taskbar alignment - no additional arguments
  10. Open Start menu - no additional arguments
  11. Virtual key press - key1;key2;...;keyN or Modifier+Key
    • Example: Win+E (Win + E)

    • Example: LCtrl;C (Ctrl + C using separate keys)
    • Uses the same key and modifier names as the hotkey format above
